Getting started

Install the theme

1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
2. Select Add theme → Upload zip file and choose the Slow Summer package.
3. Open Customize to preview and configure the theme before publishing.

Recommended setup order

1. Add your logo, favicon, colors, and fonts.
2. Create products and collections.
3. Build your main and footer menus.
4. Configure homepage sections.
5. Preview product, collection, cart, search, blog, article, and policy pages.

Branding & styles

Open Theme settings in the editor. Under Branding, upload a square favicon of at least 180 × 180 pixels. Typography includes separate display and body font choices plus body scale. The Colors panel controls paper, ink, accent, text-on-accent, and rule colors. Layout controls maximum page width, mobile and desktop margins, and control corner radius.

Add your shop’s social sharing image, title, and description under Shopify’s store preferences. Slow Summer uses the theme’s fallback description only when a resource-specific description is unavailable.

Navigation

Create menus in Content → Menus, then select them in the Header and Footer sections. Nested main-menu links render as dropdown navigation. Keep top-level labels concise and limit nesting to one level for predictable mobile behavior.

Header

Use a text wordmark or upload a logo. Configure desktop and mobile logo widths, menu selection, announcement content, sticky behavior, search, and account access in the Header section.

Footer

Select a footer menu, add brand copy, enable newsletter signup, and configure social links. Shopify policy links use the policies saved under Settings → Policies.

Homepage

Add, remove, and reorder sections in the theme editor. Slow Summer includes Editorial hero, Category grid, Featured collection editorial, Editorial story, Editorial promotions, Image with text, Featured product, Blog posts, Newsletter signup, Rich text, Slideshow, Video, Custom liquid, and Custom section.

Resource-backed sections

Collection, product, blog, and article selectors are intentionally blank in a fresh install. Choose your own resources in each section. Images selected through the theme editor are stored by Shopify and remain associated with that installed theme.

Products & collections

Create products and variants in Products. Add clear titles, descriptions, media, prices, inventory, and shipping details. The product template supports media, option selection, quantity, dynamic checkout, pickup availability, and complementary products where Shopify provides them.

Create manual or automated collections in Products → Collections. Add collection images and descriptions, then connect the collections to navigation and homepage sections. Product cards preserve consistent action placement while accommodating option selectors.

Journal & pages

Create a blog under Content → Blog posts, publish articles, then select that blog in the Blog posts homepage section. Article templates support featured imagery, content, author and date metadata, and social sharing.

Create About, Contact, FAQ, and other pages under Online Store → Pages. Assign the contact template to a contact page to use Shopify’s native contact form.

Cart & search

The cart uses Shopify’s standard cart routes and supports quantity changes, removals, notes, discounts, and checkout. Predictive search displays products, collections, pages, and articles when enabled. Test unavailable variants, low inventory, sold-out products, discount codes, and empty states before launch.

Accessibility

Slow Summer includes keyboard focus states, semantic landmarks, accessible labels, reduced-motion behavior, and responsive controls. Merchants remain responsible for descriptive image alt text, meaningful link labels, readable copy, logical heading order, captions or transcripts for media, and color combinations with sufficient contrast.

Support

Theme support covers defects in the unmodified theme, questions about built-in settings, and help reproducing theme behavior. It does not include custom development, third-party app debugging, store setup, or changes to Shopify itself.

Before contacting support, preview an unmodified copy of the current theme version, disable recent app embeds, and record the affected URL and steps to reproduce.
